Museo Nazionale Romano
The main goal of the new identity project for the Museo Nazionale Romano is the development of a contemporary visual language for a group of museum sites sharing a historical context, though each has its own particular characteristics: Palazzo Massimo, Palazzo Altemps, Baths of Diocleziano and Crypta Balbi.
The design process led to the development of a common logotype, and to the following implementation as a specific lettering for the four museums, with the aim of avoiding ambiguity and reducing visual clutter in cultural heritage communication. The whole identity program thus moves from the logotype, minimizing the use of graphics and granting a central role to typography, with its unique power to name, to characterize, and to decorate at the same time.
